Animal ABC book for kids 🌈 Join me for story time on YouTube!

I illustrated and wrote this book back in 2011 as a personal project for my son, it’s now published and sold globally and it makes me so happy to know that so many kids are enjoying it. I made this video of me reading the book for the little ones in your life. I hope they like it.

Maria Harding's beautiful illustrations will delight young children as the animals of the alphabet engage in fun and surprising activities.

The Other Art Fair Sydney 2-5 December

Well it's been a while since I've exhibited anywhere (thanks Global Pandemic!) so I'm really looking forward to exhibiting at The Other Art Fair in Sydney again after a 2-year break. I'll have lots of new paintings on display and for sale, including these which I'm calling Mini Messengers.

Inspired partly by Matisses’s paper cut birds, I wanted to paint a whole series of colourful birds to lift mine - and hopefully the viewer’s spirits during this challenging time. Each painting will contain a positive message on the back from me to you.

Discover and buy from from over 110 local Australian artists at The Other Art Fair Sydney, taking place live at The Cutaway at Barangaroo from 2-5 December 2021.

Come say hi!

Installed! Staircase art at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre

Last month, I had a fantastic opportunity to design an 8-metre wide artwork for The Blue Mountains Cultural Centre entrance staircase. The brief was 'the artwork should enliven and enhance the urban streetscape surrounding the Cultural Centre' and my idea was to create a painting that featured a native bird to the Blue Mountains combined with expressive abstract brush strokes in a similar way to my Freedom series.

We decided on a female satin bowerbird, they are a beautiful olive green and pale yellow with purple/blue eyes and I have deliberately enhanced the colours here to show her off in all her glory.

Here I am with the finished artwork, titled 'Bound for a Bower' and installed as panels on the stairs. If you are in the area, come check it out!
